Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of RoutePlex's website, APIs, and services (the "Services"). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using our Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Services

RoutePlex provides an API gateway that routes requests to various AI language models. RoutePlex does not develop or train AI models. It provides infrastructure to access third-party models. Our Services include:

  • Chat Completion API: Access to multiple AI models through a unified endpoint
  • Intelligent Routing: Automatic model selection based on your preferences
  • Usage Dashboard: Monitoring and analytics for your API usage

Underlying models and providers may change without notice. RoutePlex reserves the right to update, replace, or modify the AI models and providers used to fulfill requests at any time to improve service quality, reliability, or cost efficiency.

3. Account Registration

To use our Services, you must:

  • Create an account with accurate information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Promptly notify us of any unauthorized access
  • Be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

4. API Keys and Security

  • API keys are confidential and should be kept secure
  • Do not share API keys or embed them in client-side code
  • Rotate keys immediately if you suspect compromise
  • We may revoke keys that are compromised or abused
  • Usage is attributed based on authenticated API requests
  • RoutePlex is not responsible for unauthorized usage resulting from leaked or exposed API keys

5. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use the Services to:

  • Violate any laws or regulations
  • Generate illegal, harmful, or abusive content
  • Harass, threaten, or harm others
  • Infringe on intellectual property rights
  • Distribute malware or spam
  • Attempt to bypass rate limits or security measures
  • Resell access without authorization
  • Use automated tools to scrape or stress-test the Services
  • Generate content that sexualizes minors
  • Attempt to bypass or circumvent content moderation systems

Use of third-party AI providers through RoutePlex is subject to their respective acceptable use policies.

RoutePlex employs automated content moderation that may block requests containing prohibited content. Blocked requests return a 451 status code. See our Acceptable Use Policy for details on what is and is not blocked.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

6. Content and Output

  • Your Content: You retain ownership of content you submit to the Services
  • Model Outputs: Outputs generated by AI models are provided "as is"
  • No Guarantee: We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of model outputs
  • Your Responsibility: You are responsible for reviewing and validating outputs before use
  • Non-Reliance: RoutePlex does not provide legal, medical, financial, or professional advice. Outputs generated by AI models should not be relied upon for critical decisions

Data Handling

RoutePlex is a stateless API gateway. We do not store, log, or retain the content of your prompts, model responses, web search queries, or any data related to your end-users or customers. All request content is processed in-memory and discarded immediately after the response is delivered.

Content moderation checks are performed statelessly on each request — content is inspected in real-time and discarded. Only a SHA-256 hash is stored if a request is blocked (never the raw content).

Requests may be forwarded to third-party AI providers to fulfill the request. Handling of data by those providers is governed by their respective policies.

RoutePlex retains only operational metadata (timestamps, token counts, costs, model used) and billing records — none of which contain message content.

7. Pricing and Payment

Account-Level Billing

  • All usage is billed at the account level — every API request made with your key is charged to your account
  • There is no project-level or key-level billing separation
  • Usage-based pricing is calculated per token processed, tracked to the micro-cent level
  • Costs are tracked in real-time and displayed in your dashboard
  • Invoices are generated monthly and due within 30 days

Evaluation Plan

  • New accounts start on a free evaluation plan with limited daily quotas
  • The evaluation plan uses the same models and API endpoints as paid plans
  • There is no separate "test" or "sandbox" environment — evaluation limits apply automatically
  • Upgrading to a usage plan removes evaluation limits and begins billing immediately upon confirmation

Cost Estimation

  • The cost estimation endpoint (/api/v1/chat/estimate) is free and does not count toward usage or billing
  • Estimates are based on current pricing and token counts and may differ from actual usage costs

Payment Terms

  • Valid payment method required for paid usage
  • We use Stripe for payment processing
  • Failed payments may result in service suspension
  • Fees for consumed API usage are non-refundable

Billing Enforcement and Grace Periods

If a payment fails or a payment method is removed, RoutePlex may provide a limited grace period during which access may continue.

After the grace period expires, access to the Services may be restricted or suspended until payment issues are resolved.

Usage during a grace period remains billable.

Model and Provider Changes

  • RoutePlex may update, replace, or rotate underlying AI models and providers at any time
  • In routeplex-ai mode, the specific model and provider are abstracted and may change without notice
  • Pricing for routed requests reflects RoutePlex rates, which may differ from upstream provider pricing
  • If you require a specific model, use direct mode with an explicit model name

Price Changes

We may change prices with 30 days notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

8. Rate Limits and Quotas

  • Rate limits apply to all accounts
  • Exceeding limits may result in request throttling
  • Enterprise plans available for higher limits
  • Daily budget limits can be configured in settings

RoutePlex may monitor usage patterns to detect abuse, fraud, or service degradation.

9. Service Level

Availability

We target 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee it. The Services are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.

Maintenance

We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability. We will provide notice when possible.

Third-Party Dependencies

Our Services depend on third-party AI providers. We are not responsible for their availability or performance.

10. Intellectual Property

  • Our Property: The Services, including software, designs, and documentation, are owned by RoutePlex
  • Your License: We grant you a limited, non-exclusive license to use the Services
  • Feedback: Any feedback you provide may be used by us without obligation

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES
  • OUR TOTAL LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS
  • WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR THIRD-PARTY AI MODEL OUTPUTS OR DECISIONS MADE BASED ON THEM

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RoutePlex and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the Services
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights

13. Termination

By You

You may close your account at any time through the dashboard or by contacting support.

By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Fail to pay amounts due
  • Engage in fraudulent activity
  • Pose a security risk

We may temporarily suspend access without notice if we believe the Services are being abused or pose a security risk.

Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Services ends immediately
  • We may delete your data after 30 days
  • Sections that should survive termination will remain in effect

14. Export Controls

You may not use the Services if you are located in a country subject to trade sanctions, or if you are listed on any government restricted parties list.

15. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or dashboard notification. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles.

17. General

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and RoutePlex
  • Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect
  • No Waiver: Failure to enforce a right does not waive that right
  • Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our consent
